Public Safety

As Mayor and past Councilmember, I’ve had the distinct honor of working alongside some of the hardest working and selfless individuals I’ve ever seen. Daily these men and women put their lives on the line to ensure our city and our families are always safe and protected. That is why I am proud to be endorsed by both the Madera Police Officers’ Association and our city firefighters, Cal Fire Local 2881.

Since becoming Mayor, and with our community’s support, our city has added over 20 new personnel to our police department immediately decreasing emergency response times, lowering costly officer overtime, and crime.  The addition of officers has allowed our department to close more cases and make more arrests related to property crimes and violent crimes. As Mayor, I’ve also advocated for more training and updated equipment, such as body cameras, so we can ensure our department’s philosophy of “Community Policing” is first and foremost practiced by all officers.

I’m very proud to have overseen the funding and building of our city’s 3rd Fire Station including the purchase of several new fire trucks. The new fire station supports more firefighter jobs, faster emergency response times, as well as a satellite police station that will serve the growing neighborhoods on the Northside of Madera.
