Meet Mayor Andy

I was born and raised in Madera and attended public schools in the city. I graduated from Madera High School in 1985.  I was married to my wife in 1990 and we celebrated 30 years of marriage in May 2020.  We have three children Andrew 25, Adam 21, and my only daughter Amelie 16.

I am the owner and sole proprietor of Andy’s Sports & Design.  We are a custom print shop specializing in embroidery, screen printing and we have a full digital sign shop with an in-house graphics department.  I opened Andy’s in the summer of 1993 and through adversity, difficult economic times, and hard work we celebrated our 27th year in business in August 2020.

I am a founding member of the Madera Evening Lions.  I chaired many projects and served as President in 2001-2002.  I coached Little League for over 9 years and served my community on the City’s Planning Commission for over 12 years and served as Chairman 4 terms.

I was appointed to the City Council in July 2011.  In November I ran unopposed for the District 2 City Council seat and I was also unopposed when I ran for Mayor in 2016.  During my 9 years serving the City of Madera I have served on many board & commissions such as the Madera County Transportation Commission, LAFCO, Valley Voice & The San Joaquin Valley Regional Policy Council to name a few.

Economic Development, Job Creation, and Public Safety have always been a top priority of mine while in office.  I have worked diligently to address economic development in Madera by working with a local developer to bring a new, 100-acre industrial park to Madera creating good-paying jobs.  Over the past four years, Madera has seen an increase of development such as 3 new Starbuck’s, Love’s Travel Center & a Vallarta Grocery Store all creating hundreds of jobs for our community.  Public Safety and allowing our residents to feel safe in our community is a priority.  I supported and championed for Measure K, a half-cent sales tax increase to support public safety in Madera.  Over the last 4 years, we have been able to equip our police officers with better equipment, hire more personnel, and build a much needed new fire station in Madera.

I bring vision, integrity, and opportunity to the residents of Madera.  I will continue to work hard to ensure everyone in our community is heard and represented.  I have devoted myself to the residents of Madera by always being accessible and making my position as Mayor my full-time job!
